VIQAS
Hometown:
Chicago, Illinois
Amundsen High School
Major:
Actuarial Science
Favorite place to study:
Home, in front of my computer with all the things I need installed on it.
Favorite place to hang out with friends:
At the Undergraduate Library, on the floor where you’re allowed to be mildly loud.
Favorite splurge:
Even as a grown-up, I’m still a big ice cream fan so when I really splurge, I go through a gallon of ice cream.
What brought you to the State Farm Research Center?
It’s a great opportunity to get to work on real actuarial problems with real data. The learning aspect of the internship is definitely the best part.
What I wish I'd known about college life before coming to the U of I:
I wish I knew how to really manage my time. You hear it all the time, but it’s different for everyone … having fun and doing something other than studying is just as important as any academic activity.
In my wildest dreams, after graduation I'll be:
Winning the Nobel Prize for figuring out something cool, like the Black and Scholes Option Pricing Model.
